CJP launches 2012 Annual Campaign

On Wednesday, September 7, hundreds of community members and CJP staff filled Temple Beth Elohim in Wellesley for the 116th Annual Meeting and to celebrate the launch of CJP’s 2012 Annual Campaign. Initiating his final Annual Meeting as board chair, Brad Bloom welcomed the chair-elect, Sari Anne Rapkin, into office.

Chairs Announce Record Goal for Annual Campaign

CJP President Barry Shrage also welcomed 2012 Annual Campaign Chairs Judy Kaye and Dale Okonow, who announced that the goal for the 2012 Annual Campaign is a record setting $45 million.

“Judy and I have taken different paths, working hard to support the causes near to our hearts,” said Dale Okonow. “But like all of you, we arrived at the same place: CJP. That’s because there is a place for everyone here—a need for everyone’s unique contributions.”

To address the challenges of reaching the $45 million goal, Co-Chair Judy Kaye shared, “When we each add our strength to the Annual Campaign, we can meet the needs of our community…help struggling families feed their children, support isolated seniors, create job opportunities for the unemployed, strengthen support for Israel, and so much more…We will reach our goal, because the well being of our community, and indeed our world, depends on us.”

Volunteer Leaders Honored

The evening’s festivities concluded with the presentation of CJP’s Annual Young Leadership Awards to Campe Goodman and Emma Samuels for their commitment and service.

The Rabbinic Award was presented to Rabbi Joel Sisenwine, of Temple Beth Elohim in Wellesley, for his leadership and dedication.

A third, special recognition award, the Ahavat Olam award, was presented to Rabbi Samuel Chiel, for his love of the Jewish people and his lifelong contributions to our community.

Campaigners, volunteers and many of Greater Boston’s Jewish community have already begun raising campaign funds, and spreading awareness about the impact of CJP dollars.
