Metrowest Fund Now Accepting Grant Applications

CJP’s Metrowest Jewish Community Fund organizers are searching for innovative new programs and ideas to generate even more Jewish vibrancy in Metrowest. Though priority is given to those serving teens, seniors and families with young children, smaller allocations will also be given to community-wide programming. Grant applications from both grassroots and established Jewish organizations are welcome and are due by April 1, 2008.

Programming that has won funding in the past varies widely including Kesher 13.  If you’re visiting a Metrowest senior living center on a Friday afternoon, you’ll hear the laughter and singing of seniors and teenagers involved with Kesher 13. This award-winning program brings bar/bat mitzvah-aged kids and their parents together with seniors to welcome Shabbat in story, prayer and song.

That Jewish Family Service of Metrowest program, as well as a Metrowest Israeli Independence Day concert, a family fun day at a local museum and a series of Jewish cooking classes are a few of the creative, community-building programs made possible by support from CJP’s Metrowest Jewish Community Fund.

Designed with the help of Metrowest Planning Committee Co-chairs Carl Chudnofsky, Kathy Anbinder and Michael Tichnor, the Fund is a program of CJP aimed at growing Jewish life in Metrowest, an area that’s home to an increasing number of young families.

“The Fund offers an extraordinary opportunity to enhance the richness of Metrowest’s dynamic Jewish community by bringing innovative new programs to the area, especially for young families, the elderly and teens,” says Marcia Rosenberg of Framingham, who co-chairs the Fund with Ali Corton. “We’re extremely grateful to CJP for recognizing the importance of Metrowest and providing these new resources to help strengthen Jewish life here.”
