BEIRUT, Lebanon - A U.N. spokeswoman says peacekeepers have started laying barbed wire along the Lebanon-Israel border to prevent any violation of the Blue Line that divides the two countries.

Dozens of peacekeepers were seen Thursday laying barbed wire in the town of Ghajar, which is divided between Israel and Lebanon. The border has been a point of friction between the two countries and one Lebanese was killed nearby two months ago in a cross border shooting.

Yasmina Bouzian, a spokeswoman for the U.N. peacekeepers, says the laying of the barbed wire is part of an agreement reached April 2nd during a meeting between the head of the U.N. peacekeeping force and senior officials from the Lebanese and Israeli armies.
