Jewish Boston Connected, CJP's Strategic Plan for the Future

A Message from the Chairs

We are delighted to present Jewish Boston Connected, CJP’s Strategic Plan for the Future, to the community.

CJP launched this planning process in September 2006.  At that time, we called it “Jewish Boston 2020”, because we realized that a baby born during the project would celebrate his or her bar or bat mitzvah in the year 2020.  The name also reflected our goal - to establish community priorities to guide CJP’s work for the next ten years.

During the course of this project, we heard from hundreds of people across the full range of our community - baby boomers, young adults, interfaith couples, older singles, teens, seniors, the GLBT community, Jews with disabilities and other important constituencies.  We thank all of you for your participation.

In the end, we believe, it all comes down to one key issue, engaging the next generation of Jews, of every background, in Jewish life.

Everything else that we do as a community is still critical and essential, especially creating connections that strengthen Israel and deepening our networks of caring and social justice.  But in the long run, all of our dreams depend on connecting the next generation to Jewish choices; and so this goal must be the central focus of our plan.

This plan is ambitious, far reaching and bold.  We look forward to working with you to bring it to life.

For all that you do, we thank you.
