Real Estate, Construction and Design (RECD) Team

The Real Estate, Construction & Design (RECD) Team of Combined Jewish Philanthropies is an active group of industry professionals in Greater Boston who want to connect with Jewish culture and values, and with each other.

The RECD Team holds events throughout the year that offer networking, social and educational opportunities. Our Annual Market Update is a popular business forum, and the Annual RECD Dinner is a not-to-be-missed event.

Through RECD, you’ll connect with professionals from all facets of the industry while making an important contribution to the Jewish community.

The RECD Team’s King Solomon Society (KSS), co-chaired by Corey Bialow and Hans Strauch, held a reception on Tuesday, June 7, from 6:00 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. generously hosted by Steven Samuels at his newly developed 1330 Boylston:

We were delighted to welcome a group of CJP’s top leaders and philanthropists, as well as new donors making first-time $3,600+ gifts to join this generous cohort. Together, we enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres by the gorgeous roof deck pool, as well as heard a few words from Steve on Samuels & Associates’ most current projects. The views were not only stunning, but gave us an incredible look at the exciting and innovative work that Samuels & Associates is doing in the Fenway area and beyond.

2011 RECD Annual Market Update

Great thanks to our moderator Simon Ziff, as well our insightful panelists, who provided strong evidence that Boston is indeed headed toward economic recovery, as one of the ‘Fortunate Five’ markets, including New York City, Washington DC, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Joel Sklar’s report of Samuels & Associates’ plans to expand in the Fenway; Christine Rohrbeck’s news that Baupost has been actively investing in the last 12 months; as well as Brian Kavoogian’s information that Charles River Investors has closed five deals and invested in $180 million worth of real estate over the past few years, gives us reason to be cautiously optimistic. Larry Curtis demonstrated how WinnCompanies has found success in secondary markets, as well as the importance of affordable housing, and how he’s successfully combined his profession and his philanthropy to make a real difference at CJP.

Many thanks to our event Co-Chairs Doug Arsham, Elizabeth Krupp Fish, and Adam Steinberg for their terrific teamwork in putting this together.
