Jewish Family & Children's Service is seeking a Director of Foundation Relations to steward and grow the agency's institutional support from foundations and corporate supporters. The successful candidate will join a vibrant development team that raises over $8 million annually from individual and institutional donors, and play a critical role in furthering our mission of providing exceptional human services guided by Jewish traditions of social responsibility, compassion, and respect for all members of the community.
Building on a successful track record, the Director of Foundation & Relations is responsible for growing and tracking support from foundations for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects. Under the supervision and direction of the Chief Philanthropy Officer, the Director of Foundation Relations will research, write, assemble, and report on grants from private foundations and corporations, supervise the Senior Institutional Giving Officer, as well as coordinate and participate in the cultivation and stewardship of all foundation and corporate prospects and donors.

-Working in collaboration with both development and program staff, responsible for the writing or supervision of writing of all proposals, budgets, reports, and other ancillary materials.
-Collaborate closely across departments to optimize the use of program impact data in funder reports and proactively identify new or emerging program evaluation expectations on the part of major foundations.
-Supervise Senior Institutional Giving Officer, assigning institutional relationships as appropriate to distribute work and ensure best results for the organization.
-Research potential funders, target appropriate ask amounts, and prioritize and evaluate prospects for corporate, foundation, and government grants.
-Working closely with the Chief Philanthropy Officer and the Executive Team, develop and prioritize projects and proposals: meet and work with program staff to elicit both state and national projects and programs that need support; vet projects and programs that reflect organizational priorities for funding.
-Develop and foster relationships with institutional funders: find personal connections with staff, board, trustees, volunteers, donors that will ensure the attention of institutional funders.
-Arrange for tours on site; make appointments for senior managers, program staff, and others with potential funders.
-Provide stewardship for existing donors, including fulfilling reporting requirements.
-Manage existing grants by tracking grants; developing internal reporting systems; writing reports; maintaining excellent historical records; working with staff to ensure each project or program is meeting proposal conditions and expectations.
-Monitor and manage grants income goal.
-Assist with other fundraising projects as requested.
-Enthusiastic about JF&CS's mission and its services, and eager to be a strong ambassador for our work.
-Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including editing the work of others.
-Proven track record with institutional donors, including development of proposals for new large grant opportunities.
-Significant experience with grant writing and management.
-Knowledge of fundraising information sources and research techniques.
-Experience with budget development and monitoring.
-Knowledge of contracts and agreements preferred.
-Management experience preferred.
-Excellent computer skills with all Microsoft Office programs.
-Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines, while maintaining flexibility and ability to pivot on a dime as needed.
This is a full-time position of 36.25 hours/week. The position will be based out of Waltham and will be during regular business hours.
