ELL Teacher — Day Schools

Position Summary:
Gateways: Access to Jewish Education is seeking an English Language Learners teacher to work in Jewish private day schools providing both direct service to students in elementary and middle school and consultation to teachers. This is a part time school-year position, 6-10 hours a week, and reports to the Director of Day School Programs.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Determine students’ needs through observation and assessment
• Provide direct specialized instruction in English language to non - native speakers (individuals and small groups)
• Prepare course materials and design lessons that cover all aspects of the English language, whether written or verbal.
• Track of student progress and customize individualized plans for students with special requirements.
• Provide coaching and consultation to teachers on differentiation and implementation of inclusion strategies and participating in student support/grade level meetings
• Write student progress reports in the middle and end of the school year
• Attend IEP meetings when able- if applicable

• A minimum of three years of related experience
• Knowledge of various methods of teaching English to non-native speakers
• A calm and resilient personality
• ESL or TESOL certification
• Degree in English Language, English Literature or similar field
• Thoughtful communication skills; professionalism and sensitivity in interacting with parents, teachers, and a diverse learning population
• Strong organizational skills
• Commitment to Gateways’ mission and the field of Jewish education
