Part Time

Office Manager

Congregation Kadimah-Toras Moshe 101 Washington Street, Brighton MA

Congregation Kadimah-Toras Moshe (KTM) is seeking a part-time (20 hours) Office Manager to replace our current one who has decided to spend more time with her grandchildren. This is the perfect position for a friendly, organized person with standard Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel) and who is not afraid of learning new programs and systems that involve:

Publishing the weekly bulletin
Processing checks/donations and light bookkeeping
Sending thank you notes, acknowledgements, and other correspondence, including bulk mailings
Answering the phone and responding to inquiries
Ordering building supplies
Updating to website
Making flyers for upcoming programs using basic online software
General office administrative duties, as required

In addition to a comfort with computer programs and office systems, we are seeking a person with:
Experience working in an office
Good communication and English skills
Strong sense of discretion
Knowledge of when to ask for direction
Ability to multi-task

The person does not need to be Jewish, but a comfort level in learning Jewish terminology and customs (in English) is a must.

The 20 hours are flexible (Monday through Friday, four or five days a week to be determined), but are expected to be between 9:00 am and 4 pm, with a regular schedule to be agreed upon between the successful candidate and the synagogue president and rabbi with whom the successful candidate will work closely. The Office Manager often works alone in the office, however, so we are seeking someone who is self-directed. Because this is part-time position, Medical/Dental and vacation time are not part of the package. The pay is between $20-35 an hour depending on experience, and a W-9 form will need to be submitted to our bookkeeper.

A modern Orthodox synagogue over 70 years old in Boston’s Brighton neighborhood, Congregation Kadimah-Toras Moshe has a paid membership of approximately 50 families and singles, as well as an email list of 500 recipients. We recently moved into a new building, so the Office Manager will be part of the process of helping to develop systems as well as working with systems already in place. Located on Washington Street between Commonwealth Avenue and Brighton Center, the building is easily reachable by public transportation, and on-street parking that does not require a neighborhood parking sticker can be found.

If you would like to be considered for the position, please send an email with your resume describing your experience to amybernstein@verizon.net with “Office Manager Position” in the subject line.

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree Preferred and 0-2 years of experience.
