As we approach one of the most contentious, divisive elections in our nation's history, join us for a thought-provoking evening with Harvard Professor Michael J. Sandel, author of the new book The Tyranny of Merit: What's Become of the Common Good?
Regardless of the outcome, the election will not mark the end of the polarization that plagues our civic life and challenges our democracy. American society faces a significant challenge: How can we emerge from polarization and find our shared values and common good? What role can Judaism and the Jewish community play in rebuilding civic society? How can institutions and individuals create positive change?
Michael J. Sandel, esteemed scholar of civic life, will explore these questions in conversation with Dr. Sarah Abramson, CJP’s Senior Vice President of Strategy and Impact. Rabbi Marc Baker, CJP’s President and CEO, will give opening remarks.
There is no charge to attend, but registration is required to receive a link to the event.
