We are shocked and horrified to learn of a deadly shooting attack in central Tel Aviv today that claimed the lives of four people and seriously injured several more.
The attack is a terrible reminder of the violence that Israelis face all too often. I’ve spent the past few days in Israel enjoying the beauty of the land in Boston's sister city, Haifa, at an event celebrating the connections between Americans and Israelis.
Terrorism against our brothers and sisters in Israel reminds us of our unshakable bond, our unbreakable commitment to the basic right of the Israeli people to live in safety and freedom from fear.
While the exact details of the incident in Tel Aviv are still emerging, we oppose in the strongest terms continuing Palestinian incitement that encourages violence as an alternative to coexistence.
As we pray for the families of the murdered and for the recovery of the wounded, we will continue to work for peace. There is no other viable solution.
