Sarah Konter (left) and Jackie Adelson (right) co-chaired the Women’s Philanthropy Tzedek Mission to San Diego in August 2019. When they heard about the hardships of newly arrived refugee families, Jackie and Sarah felt compelled to help. With their leadership, 24 women traveled across the country to put Jewish values into action.
They volunteered at a shelter for refugees and immigrants, learned from local experts, and gained a first-hand understanding of how local work can impact the country. This was the first point of engagement with CJP for many women on the trip, and they all shared a meaningful and educational service experience. Jackie and Sarah’s leadership exemplifies how individuals taking action can mobilize our community and create positive change locally and across the country.
