Gann Academy is seeking a Full-Time Jewish Studies Teacher for the 2022-2023 academic year. Qualified candidates will be comfortable teaching a broad range of Jewish subjects (3-4 different courses) using classical Jewish texts (biblical and rabbinic) and modern sources, as well as supporting Jewish Life experiences for our students. Candidates will be able to connect well with teenagers, serve as a role model of engaged and inspired Jewish living, and facilitate students development of their Jewish identities. Candidates should enjoy working in a pluralistic Jewish setting and engaging students from all Jewish backgrounds. We seek educators who are committed to collaborating and growing in their teaching practice, and to supporting diverse learners in the classroom.

This is a 10-month in-person position, and that salary range is $50,000-$65,000 depending on experience.
Teach three sections of Jewish Studies in each semester
Prepare lessons and develop curriculum; teach, lead, and guide students
Manage student behavior in and out of the classroom
Grade student work in a timely manner consistent with school standards
Utilize technology and other educational tools to support student learning and engage in curricular and other initiatives as implemented by the Educational Administration
Jewish Studies Faculty Duties
In collaboration with colleagues and school administration, help plan the grade-level Shabbatonim, holiday and special programming, and attend and participate in all of these events/programs
Work as a Jewish identity advisor to guide and mentor students through their Jewish journeys
Lead four (4) mornings per week of Zman Kodesh
Full Time Jewish Studies Faculty get a 1 course remission due to participation in Shabbatonim, holiday programing, and leading Zman Kodesh
Advising & Other Duties
Serve as a student advisor or the equivalent
Remain current on the schools academic program requirements to guide students through 4-year planning and course registration
Serve as a club advisor or the equivalent
Community Involvement & Engagement
Support the planning of Jewish life experiences for our students
Attend and participate in communal programs outside the classroom
Model and encourage appropriate behavior and monitor students during events and programming
Attend and participate in open houses, graduation, and other special events which may take place in the evenings and/or weekends
Attend and participate in parent/teacher conferences and advisor conferences which may take place in the evening
Plan, chaperone, and participate in field trips and outside activities which may involve travel or overnight stays
Competencies and Skills
Comfort with classical Jewish texts in their original languages. Strong modern Hebrew a plus.
