Y'ladim BaTeva - Outdoor Jewish Learning for Kids, the outdoor Jewish children's program of Ma'yan Tikvah - A Wellspring of Hope is seeking multiple Teachers Plus for the 2022-23 school year.

Ma'yan Tikvah is a small, alternative, independent congregation with about 20 household units and 22 students currently enrolled. Most of our programming takes place outdoors in various conservation lands in Metrowest Boston. Contact Rabbi Katy Allen at rabbi@mayantikvah.org for more information.

Several part-time teaching positions as part of a leadership team are open for grades K-8. The program runs from September through the beginning of June. Positions are available with a time commitment ranging from 6-15 hours per month.

Responsibilities*:
Teach a mixed-grade class of up to ten children outdoors one Sunday a month for 2½ hours;
Teach two 30-minute online classes per month with the same group;
Co-lead 4-7 Sunday family programs per year;
Co-lead 2-5 Shabbat programs per year (Friday evening or Saturday morning, afternoon, or evening)**;
Meet about every six weeks with other staff for planning;
Maintain records of student and family attendance;
Maintain communication with parents;
Meet with parents on Zoom at least once per year.
* There are flexible options for the number of hours per month.
** If you are Shomer Shabbat, you could do more Sunday programs in place of Shabbat.

Additional potential responsibilities:
Lead singing at tefillah and family programs;
Teach one or more online Hebrew classes for 30 minutes per week, 3x/month;
Lead walks on the High Holidays;*
Tutor b'mitzvah students;*
Help with additional teaching of b'mitzvah students;
Assist with curriculum development;
Provide social media outreach for the program;
Assist with administrative tasks;
Liaison to a parent committee;
Assist with coordinating volunteers.
*These opportunities have higher compensation levels.

Education, Skills and Experience Needed:
B.A. or advanced degree;
Advanced Jewish education;
Jewish outdoor environmental education background;
Love of the outdoors and experience with hiking and other outdoor activities;
Experience with children in either formal or informal education setting;
Learning and experience with neurodiverse groups;
Creativity, warmth, and an interest in exploring new experiences;
Ability to work with a team;
Desire for helping to grow a unique community;
Openness to interfaith families and alternate ways of expressing Judaism.

Salary: $40-$55 per teaching hour, $25-$40/hour for meetings and administrative tasks
