About the Grassroots Impact Grant

The Grassroots Impact Grant, formerly known as the Ally Challenge, supports hyperlocal groups or organizations across Greater Boston working to combat antisemitism and build bridges in their towns, neighborhoods, and civic institutions. Groups can apply for up to $40,000 in general operating or project-based funding. Funding is limited.

The Grassroots Impact Grant uses a two-stage application process. We begin with Letters of Intent (LOIs) to identify the most promising initiatives, then invite selected groups to submit full applications.

The Grassroots Impact Grant eligibility requirements

  • Applicants must align with CCA's vision, approach, and values
  • Applicants must be based within the region that CJP serves
  • Applicants must either be a registered nonprofit organization (501(c)(3)) or work with one that agrees to serve as a fiscal sponsor
  • Applicants must be a volunteer and/or communal-led grassroots group working locally within their communities and civic institutions
  • Applicants must be focused on cross-community education, relationship building, changing and improving norms, and/or influencing local leaders or institutions
  • Prior grantees and applicants are welcome to apply; priority given to groups not previously funded by CCA
  • Not eligible: Workplace groups including Jewish ERGs are ineligible. To apply for workplace funding, please visit CJP's Jewish at Work Stipends.
  • Not eligible: College campus-based projects and organizations are ineligible. For more information on campus funding opportunities, contact samanthar@cjp.org.

Important dates

  • July 15: Letter of Intent (LOI) due
  • Early August: Invitations sent to selected groups to submit full applications
  • August 10: Grant applications due
  • September: Funding decisions announced

Selection process

LOIs will be reviewed for alignment, feasibility, and potential for impact. Selected groups will be invited to submit a full application.
