Arthur Winn founded WinnCompanies in 1971 to focus quality affordable housing. It has evolved into an award-winning multifamily development and property management company responsible for all types of apartment communities, as well as a portfolio that includes a four-star hotel, corporate headquarters, commercial establishments and medical office buildings. The company operates in 22 states and the District of Columbia.
Mr. Winn built WinnCompanies on the belief that it could do well by doing good, based on a business plan with five core principles:
- Every development will stand out for quality and innovation;
- We will never default on debt;
- Every equity investor will get the returns we promise;
- Each of our properties will be welcomed as an attractive community asset; and,
- Nurture and maintain the closest possible relationships with residents.
Mr. Winn has been honored with numerous awards for professional achievement and community service, most recently receiving the Community Leadership Award from the Boston Chapter of the American Jewish Committee.
He also has been recognized as the leading partner for minority and women-owned businesses for 15 consecutive years by MassHousing; the Excellence in Affordable Housing Award from the Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation; the Distinguished Service Award from the Real Estate Finance Association; and, the Corcoran Award for Excellence from the Board of Trustees of the St. Mary’s Center for Women & Children.
