The Miriam Fund grantees

Founded in 2000, The Miriam Fund women’s giving circle has awarded more than $7.5 million to organizations driving gender equity for women and girls across Massachusetts and Israel.

All of our current grantees are headquartered in or serve communities across Massachusetts and Israel, allowing us to concentrate our impact where deep community roots run strong.

Yozmot Atid – 3rd year
Project: Taking the Leap: Building Women’s Business Entrepreneurship and Economic Resilience
Description:
Training model and program to build capacity, increase capability and empowerment, and provide skills and support network for diverse women in financial distress.

Elifelet, Citizens for Refugee Children – 2nd year
Project: Growing Strong
Description: Safeguarding and empowering status-less girls in Israel through programming, resource support, and education.


Haifa Rape Crisis Center – 2nd year
Project: Nahariya & Galilee General Operating Grant 
Description: Supporting survivors of assault while utilizing educational and professional training to prevent further incidents.


Tamkin – 2nd year
Project: Extensive Program for Autistic Girls
Description: Empowering girls with special needs and learning difficulties through education, providing physical and mental health support needs, and fostering friendships.


Transgenders for Social Justice – 2nd year
Project: Trans Doula Project
Description: Holistic support for transgender women through their transition journeys.

The Institute of Gender Equity – 1st year
Project: Window of Opportunity: Leaders of Tomorrow
Description: Dedicated to advancing gender equity in education by guiding educators in examining their teaching environments through a gender lens, helping them identify inherent biases and implement evidence-based strategies that foster equity.
 
Queen B – 1st year
Project: General Operating
Description: A bilingual educational-technology nonprofit organization whose mission is to reduce gender gaps in the Israeli high-tech industry, ultimately creating a future where women have equal participation, influence, and leadership.

Project: Support for Ukrainian Refugees in Massachusetts
Description: Empowering Ukrainian women and girls displaced by conflict, aiming to support their integration into new communities and facilitate their journey toward self-sufficiency.

The Vilna Shul, Boston’s Center for Jewish Culture – 3rd year
Project: The Only Woman in the Room: An Arts & Cultural Series about Extraordinary Jewish Women
Description: A series of events and art exhibits highlighting Jewish women who have achieved extraordinary success in professional fields.


Bais Yaakov – 2nd year
Project: EMPOWERED Leadership Development
Description: Leadership development and social emotional learning for high school girls.


Gateways – 2nd year
Project: Empowering Caregivers
Description: A supportive parenting service for mothers of children with disabilities, providing empowerment through education and resources, coping skills, and community-building.


Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Boston – 2nd year
Project: FAME (Female Activity Mentoring Experience)
Description: Group mentoring program that seeks to foster individual connections and positive peer relationships through social and confidence building activities.


Jewish Family & Children’s Service – 2nd year
Project: Journey to Safety
Description: Enhanced legal aid for Journey to Safety’s domestic abuse prevention and support programs.
 
Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum – 1st year
Project: “The Book of Esther in the Age of Rembrandt” Exhibit
Description: “The Book of Esther in the Age of Rembrandt” offers an urgent opportunity to reflect on the power of women’s leadership, the complexities of Jewish identity, and the enduring relevance of cultural resistance.

Secular grantees FY27

Flying Cloud Institute – 3rd year
Project: Young Women in Science
Description: Provide dynamic and transformational STEM engagement and multigenerational mentorship for female and nonbinary identifying youth ages 9–19.


Jeremiah Program – 3rd year
Project: Expanding Impact for Single Mother College Students in Boston
Description: A whole family approach for single mothers in Boston to advance education and career goals while also supporting the growth and development of their children.


LEAP Self Defense, Inc. – 3rd year
Project: General Operating Support
Description: Empowering girls and gender-expansive youth ages 8–22 to become advocates for their well-being and safety, fostering a sense of belonging in all aspects of their lives.


Hilltown Village – 2nd year
Project: It Takes a Village
Description: Empowering women across Western Massachusetts who are facing rural isolation or urban poverty by expanding programs like their basic needs supplies deliveries and/or providing support for mothers who are suffering from postpartum depression.


Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast – 2nd year
Project: Awareness Building for Equitable Access to Donor Breast Milk
Description: Marketing campaign funding to make this service known both to parents/mothers who need donor milk, and those who have donor milk to give.
 
Elizabeth Freeman Center – 1st year
Project: Money School/Escuela de Finanzas Program
Description: Help survivors of domestic and sexual violence to achieve long-term, sustainable economic success and emotional recovery.
 
Second Step Inc. – 1st year
Project: Legal Services for Survivors of Domestic Violence
Description: Experienced attorneys, advocates, and educators provide free, trauma-informed services, including safety planning, legal services, and other essential resources to help survivors overcome obstacles to independence, rebuild their lives, and achieve long-term stability.
