As one of several women leaders at CJP, all from different backgrounds, I feel the need to recognize this moment in light of the news from the U.S. Supreme Court.

Regardless of your personal position on this issue, the Supreme Court’s ruling on Roe v. Wade will fundamentally transform the landscape of women’s reproductive health in America.  We also know that communities of color and low-income women will carry the heaviest burden moving forward. 

I’m heartened to see the swift responses from across our Jewish world -- perspectives from Jewish commentators, rabbis, and people who have stories to share. We at CJP will continue to explore ways to engage and educate our community about Jewish responses to this ruling and how we might move forward. 

But none of this eliminates the sadness and pain that so many of us are feeling right now. And it is important to name many real fears.
