Today we mark Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, a moment to collectively pause and reflect.
With fewer and fewer survivors to tell their stories, it’s up to us to share their testimonials and experiences of the Shoah for future generations. We remember those whose lives were brutally cut short, and we honor the incredible strength and spirit of those who survived and rebuilt, against all odds.
As we continue our work strengthening our community and educating and nurturing our next generation, let us draw inspiration from their lives, their memories, and their examples.
We are living in fragile times: 59 hostages remain captive in Gaza, antisemitism continues to rise, and we are experiencing deep social and political division about values that define communities and nations.
Yom HaShoah reminds us of our shared humanity and the fragility of our safety, freedom, and dignity.
This Yom HaShoah, let’s recommit ourselves to fighting against antisemitism and all forms of hate, connecting with our Jewish story, and leading with compassion, dignity, and all the values we hold dear.
May their memories be a blessing,
Rabbi Marc Baker
